News from the Topshop Outlet

Hi guys,
It's a sad, sad day. If fact, if I could be bothered, I would put a black border around the blog and declare a national day of discount-shopping mourning. For I am the bearer of bad news: The current Buy One Get One Free offer on all of the (already sale priced) items in the Topshop outlet store ends on the 31st March.

I don't know at this point what it will be replaced with: whether it will be a full price Topshop store, or disappear completely. Nor do I know what I'll do with my Saturday afternoon's when it's gone: I'll let you know the answers to all of these questions as soon as I do!

In the meantime, that leaves you with less than two weeks to head down there and check out the goodies: maybe even pick up some last-minute bargains!

*The Topshop Outlet is in the Broadwalk Centre in Edgware. If you are living nearby it's definitely worth checking out. However if you live further afield, it might not be worth a specific visit, as it is a very small store, and I can't guarentee the quality of stock.

The Topshop outlet:What's in store right now?!

Hi guys,
It's been a while since I wrote a post about the Topshop Outlet, and yet I still visit really regularly. I shop there a lot less now (I'm still on my mission to curb my spending and avoid impulse buys) but if you're looking to bag a bargain, it's definitely at the top of the list of shops I would recommend. It's perfect for a quick-fix, guilt-free shopping fix. And the staff are friendly and helpful too, which is rare in a discount store.

Here are my picks of some of the best things in store this week:

Did you know the Topshop Outlet also stocks occasional pieces of Topshop maternity wear? Perfect if you're on a budget, and frankly, why spend a fortune on something you're only going to wear for a couple of months anyway?! This red long sleeved jersey dress is just £10.

Leopard print sweatshirt, £15. Boat knit jumper, £20. Floral detail jumper, £30. Leather tee, £3o. And remember everything in store is Buy One Get One Free. The Topshop outlet always seems to be a season behind, which means that now (whilst normal Topshop stores are filling with their spring collections) the outlet has the best of their winter wears. Perfect if you're looking for something you can buy now and wear now!

The one thing you always seem to get a lot of in the Topshop Outlet is evening wear/going out frocks. I never think of these as being particularly fast paced on the trends front, so it's a great place to pick up a cheap party dress. I love this beaded bodycon dress, £40.

The Topshop outlet is in the Broadwalk Centre in Edgware, London (On the Northern Line). As I have written before, this is a great place to shop if you live nearby, but because you can't always guarantee the quality/amount of clothes in store, it's probably not worth travelling a long way to visit.

Shop my wardrobe....and more?!

As I said in my New Year's resolution post, I have far too many clothes: lovely, beautiful clothes. And shoes. And handbags. And....well, you get the idea! There are clothes that don't fit me any more, clothes that I've loved for years , and shoes that are so high I've never worn them: just looked at them and sighed. So I have decided to reopen the Fabfrocks shop and clear some space in my wardrobe!

I'd love to know what you think of the shop idea - and also whether you would be interested in new stuff from the Topshop outlet store too? I know you aren't all a size 14/16 and don't all like second hand fashion, so thought this could widen the shop out a bit and make it interesting for everyone? I could cherry pick the best bits from the Topshop outlet store, and add it to the shop for you guys? It would also give me the excuse to shop there more often, so it's win-win really!!

Topshop Outlet bargain of the week: £5 shoes!

Hi guys,
...Well technically, they're actually £2.50 shoes, as they were £5, buy one get one free. So as well as the shoes, I also picked up an embroidered T shirt for a fiver. Then for £7 I got two simple silk shell tops: one in vibrant red and one in teal blue. Perfect for smartening up jeans and knitwear. But it was the shoes that were the biggest bargain, especially as they're leather, and bang on trend:

I really love this: they're a slightly more feminine take on the classic brogue, but the lack of laces means they look less chunky and more stremlined, making for slender calves (unlike the bulky leg look I often get with traditional brogues). The colour is a lovely milk chocolate brown, and they were just made to be teamed with tea dresses and tights (which is actually how I'm wearing them today!) I still can't believe how cheap they were!

This week in the Topshop outlet (I went in on Saturday) there were lots of shoes and trousers, but not a massive supply of dresses. The jewellery stand had been newly refreshed though (all the jewellery is £1.50 bogof) The girl behind the checkout told me that they are expecting alot of new stock in over the next fortnight though, as they will be getting everything that is in the current Topshop sale (exciting!)

If you'd like to check out the Topshop outlet for yourself, it is in The Broadwalk Centre in Edgware. Be warned though: it is a very small shop, and there often isn't a great deal of stock, so it probably isn't worth travelling too far to visit (I live just a 10 minute drive away, and it is next door to my local Sainsburys, hence my constant visits!)

Daily wear: Summer stripes

Hi guys,
I'm making the most of what the forecasters are calling the last day of our Indian Summer by wearing a light and airy summer dress. Although it's made of cotton, the button-up top part of the dress (It looks like separates but it isn't!) means that it's great for office-wear too. Obviously i've accessorised with black: when do I ever wear an outfit that doesn't have black in it?!



My chief photographer (aka Mike) wasn't working at his highest standard this morning, so the dress picture isn't the finest! I still hope you can see how vibrant the red is though.

The dress is from the Topshop outlet (a bargain £7), the belt is from Primark, the shoes are ASOS, my Friis & Co satchel is from Sarenza and I had the bracelet made when I was living in Beijing: I wanted one that sat much higher up my lower arm so that I could still type whilst wearing it!

I'd already packed all of my summer clothes and shoes away, so tearing up my wardrobe for something to wear lead me to these shoes which I got last summer, and haven't worn once this summer so far! I definitely need to have proper wardrobe clear out and shop what I already own: I'm forever finding things I love that I'd forgotten all about!

Four of the best: Dresses from the Topshop Outlet this week

Hi guys,

As I try to do at least once a month, this morning I popped down to the Topshop outlet. I didn't buy anything except jewellery, but if i'd have been in the market for a party dress, I would've been in luck! There was a great selection of partywear in store today, and in a great range of sizes too. Here are four of the best dresses they had instore today:

The strapless polka dot dress (my favourite of the four!) is £25. The sequinned dress, which is from the dress up! range, and the crochet purple dress were both £30 each. And the patterned dress, which would look great for the office with tights and a blazer, was just £15. And don't forget that everything in the store is buy one get one free, compounding the bargains even further!

Other notes from the Topshop outlet: If you're looking for winter coats or knitwear then you're out of luck. There was absolutely none in store today. On a brighter note though, there is an offer on right now where all the Freedom jewellery instore is £1.50 per piece, buy one get one free. I picked up a couple of gorgeous brooches! There is also an enormous selection of skirts, so if you love wearing separates, this is the week to pop down!

PS - The Topshop outlet is in the Broadwalk Centre, Edgware. It is on the Northern line, and in zone 5. It's only a very small store, and although there are often bargains to be had, I have hundreds of trips in where the stock isn't that great. So it's worth popping into if you're in the area, but I really wouldn't travel a long distance to visit it.

Daily wear: Sunday lunch

Well, today I went out for the nicest, and most expensive Sunday Lunch I have ever eaten! We went to The Beantree in Harpenden (such a pretty little town) and completely overindulged ourselves! Here's what I wore, and more importantly, what I ate:

Yes, you have seen this dress before! It's from the Topshop outlet yesterday. The cardigan is also Topshop (not outlet), the necklace is Blank, the shoes are my new Sarenza faves (again!) and finally my years-old slouchy leather bag. Basically I wanted to wear the dress (i'm like that when I have anything new)but it felt too fancy for a Sunday afternoon, so I dressed it down with the batwing cardigan and the tan bag. And for lunch:


My starter was a warm mozzarella and tomato tartlet with parma ham and an olive tapanade. My main was a classic pork sunday lunch: best roast parsnips ever! I finished off with a sticky toffee pudding with carmel sauce and cream (which I ate too quickly to photograph) and washed it all down with a large glass of wine. It was at least a million calories (yup, that's scientific fact) but absolutely worth it!

The Topshop outlet revisited

Well I had to start my reintroduction to shopping somewhere, and I decided to throw myself in at the deep end: with a trip to the rummaging chaos of the Topshop outlet! Here's what's hot in there this week:



1 Dress Up! Back in April, Topshop launched Dress Up! which was a brand new premium collection of statement dresses. And now those original dresses from the collection have all made their way to the Topshop outlet store! There are literally hundreds of dresses from this range in almost every size. I know it's a little soon, but my immediate thought when I saw them was that they'd be perfect for the party season. And that's the point about the outlet: the seasons of the stock in store is almost always wrong, so you have to think ahead a little!

The sequinned floral dress was £30 (bogof) and the layered flapper dress was £20 (bogof).


2. Shoes. The shoe selection is never really brilliant in store, but this week they have a wall full of shoes, ranging from heeled boots to brogues and pumps to heels and summer sandals. The pairs that really attracted my attention were the pink buckle up brogues (£20 bogof) and the cream heeled cowboy boots (£25 bogof). Both would be perfect for wearing this Autumn!

NB - Apologies for the fuzzy picture. You're *technically* not allowed to take photos in store, so I was being a little sneaky!


3 Winter. If you're looking for a knitted poncho, then this is the place to go! I counted four full rails full, all at £10 (bogof) each! There was also a wide selection of cardigans and chunky knit jumpers, knitted dresses (knitted dress above: £10 bogof) and woolen tees, but there wasn't a single coat in store: they had hundreds when I was last in there about a month ago, so I think their coat season has past!

Finally, there were loads of hats, scarves, and gloves at ludicrous prices, many of them making up matching sets. I picked up a lovely fairtrade cotton black hat with a snow flake print on with matching gloves Each item was £1 bogof, making them technically 50p each. Crazy! I went back and picked up several more sets: they'll make great stocking fillers this Christmas!


4. Marios. There was loads of the Marios Schwab collection in store at massive reductions: these trousers retailed at £180, but were just £30 bogof this weekend. I had a love hate relationship with these trousers, fluctuating from thinking they were either cool or ridiculous. I ended up putting them back, but now i'm sorely regretting it!

Daily wear: Ill advised knits!

Hi guys,
Will I ever dress right for the weather?! I decided to opt for a cardigan instead of a jacket, but chose the wrong one! This one left my arms cold when I was walking to work this morning, but is too thick for the heat of the day, and i'm sat feeling unbearably hot. Oh well, at least it's a nice looking cardigan: fashion first!



The dress is topshop (outlet actually, £20 bogof) the cardigan is very old New Look, the shoes are from Office. The jewellery and bag are all regulars that you've seen plenty of before!

I love these shoes and expected them to be comfortable, given they are such low heels. But despite the fact i've had them for three years, the peep toe cuts my big toes to shreds everytime I wear them, so I can only ever wear them on days where I know I won't be doing a lot of trekking about town!

Finally, sorry for the close up of my moody face (one of these days i'll learn to smile!) but I wanted to share my new hair cut and colour! It's not much different from the old one (i'm a creature of habit!) but I have had some low lights added this time so the colour won't look too harsh as it starts to grow out: my hair grows so quickly in the summer, so this is my only solution! The next time I have my hair coloured will be 6 days before my wedding! Eeek!!

Daily wear: Back to Black!

Hi guys,
I've given up. I surrender. I can't make my summer clothes warm and wearable on these cold gloomy days. I also can't take looking at my untrimmed, rooty hair any more: tomorrow's trip to the hair dressers can't come soon enough! Although it's only from Primark (and I have several much more expensive real leather jackets, I love the way my leather bomber jacket fits. Whenever I throw this over an outfit (however boring!) I know it's going to look OK. Here's how i'm wearing it today:

Dress from River Island, Scarf from Beta Fashion, Belt from Warehouse, Jacket from Primark, and Boots from Topshop.

I am completely in love with these pixie boots, which I got from the Topshop outlet about three weeks ago. I intended to save them for next winter, but haven't stop wearing them since I got them. They rrp'ed at £65, but I got them for £20 BOGOF. Bargain!

On the bright side, the weather forecast says the temperatures are supposed to peak at 31 degrees this weekend...Maybe I returned to the dark side too soon!

Topshop outlet: In search of trousers!

Hi guys,
I am a dedicated dress addict. I love to wear dresses in all their many forms: floaty, tight, short, if it's got a skirt, it's in my wardrobe. But this season is the season of the trousers. They're everywhere, and everyone is wearing them.

I don't want to spend a lot of money on a trend that I might not be able to make work with my wardrobe, or even feel comfortable wearing more than once or twice. But I do feel like I should open my mind and give this trouser thing a go. So where did I head to look for cheap trousers without compromising too much on quality? The topshop outlet of course!

Palazzo pants

The more I look at myself in palazzo pants, the more I realise that they just don't suit me! I'm just too short and too curvy to pull these off. Which is a shame because I loved these cotton and velvet evening ones, and they were a bargain at just £10. Just not right for me.

Peg leg trousers

Another pair of £10 trousers (which means if you got the palazzo pants too the bogof offer would make them an amazing £5 each!) These made my thighs look ginormous, but on the bright side, at least I now know cinamon coloured peg leg trousers aren't for me!

Floral trousers

These floral trousers were £15 (with that all important BOGOF) I've rolled my black top up to show off the paper bag waist band. I really liked these, and with sandals, a black silk vest and baggy cardigan (or fitted jacket depending on my mood) these would be perfect for work and play.

Slouchy shorts

I do not have good legs. In fact they have been certified as my worst feature. So you definitely wouldn't find me wearing these £15 shorts about the city this summer. But for lounging around the pool on my holidays? I actually quite like them! Much more flattering and lighter than my usual denim options. Definitely worth a try!

Topshop outlet: A peek inside

Hi guys,

Today I headed into Edgware to pick up my final Christmas presents and some wrapping paper, which gave me the perfect excuse to pop into the Topshop outlet for my last visit of the year. If you're looking for Christmas Party heels, the Topshop outlet is your best friend right now: on trend clogs, wedges, and metallic ruffles all jostled for space for less than £40 a pair (less than £20 a pair if you factor in the buy one get one free) I realised i've never shown you pictures of what the outlet looks like on the inside, so I took a couple of sneaky pics today:

There were loads of amazing belts to tempt me (when I am on a strict accessories ban!) but I was strong and buried myself in the dresses rail instead. Here are the four I tried one:

My favourite dress by far was the third one: I loved the wintery floral pattern, the nipped in lace-detail waist and the deep neckline. I also really loved the twist on the checked shirt of the final dress: it was this great, light chiffon fabric, although it looked a little boxy on my bust. The first two dresses weren't the best shapes on me, although I loved them in theory: the heart print pattern and the mix of cotton and lace were gorgeous. All four of the dresses were £15, buy one get one free.

I know I am absolutely obsessed with this shop, and I write about it all the time. But who can afford to shop in Topshop when they need a quick fashion fix? I know I can't, and the prices just keep going up and up. The outlet gives me my perfect Topshop fix without costing me a fortune. This week my picks to look out for in the Topshop outlet are the jersey maxi dresses (ranging from £7-£15) and the heeled clogs in tan and black (£35)

Topshop outlet in the changing room: November edition

Hi Guys,
Thanks to some ill/well planned holidaying (depending on how you look at it!) I have a lot of leave to use, and am only working 3/4 day weeks between now and Christmas. This meant that on Monday I had the perfect opportunity to head to the Topshop Outlet whilst it was quiet, and try a few things on:

Excuse my terrible hair in these pics, I had been wearing a hat! The first dress was silk and chiffon and a bargain for £15. The floral top I wasn't so fond of, but again it was the bargainalicious price of £7, and would be perfect for summer holidays. It isn't all just summer clothes though. There was also some great outerwear to be had:

The leather sleeveless jacket was a bargain: originally £160, it was in the outlet for £30. The other jacket is from the Ashish diffusion line and was £80. Bare in mind that you get a BOGOF with these prices, so that effectively halves them. Because I have the two expenses of the wedding and Christmas to pay for, I resisted the lure of these lovely jackets (and believe me it was hard!) But then I was faced with something I couldn't resist:

These great khaki harem trousers were £5 (making them just £2.50 when you factor in the BOGOF) They're exactly what i've been looking for to wear on the plane/at the airport enroute to my honeymoon- yes, I am that organised and I do plan that far in advance! I plan on wearing them with a black vest, snake skin sandals and long line super-light grey cardigan: completely covered up but still lightweight and cool. For my free item I picked up a beach kaftan (also for a fiver) to wear over my bikinis.

I've said it before and i'll say it again (because I don't want anyone to be disappointed on my account) but the shop is small and the stock is hit and miss: some days I want everything, some days I can't find a single thing to buy. However if you're in the neighbourhood it's definitely worth checking out!

Dailywear: Channelling my inner Kurt Cobain

Hi guys,
You've probably picked up on the fact that for the past couple of days I havent been a very well young lady. In fact, I have been a young lady that's spent a lot of time in bed! However yesterday the need for food got too great and I had to pop to the shop for lunch. I just threw on whatever was close and comfy, and ended up actually really liking the look: so much that I had to photograph it!

I feel like an angry rebellious kid from the 90s. All I need is another jumper tied around my waist and a rucksack covered in badges and the look would be complete! (Ignoring the ill-face and unkempt hair) I am wearing my Topshop tie-dye dress with the jumper I got from the Topshop outlet last week, Morrocan leather belt, leggings and sunglasses from Primark. On my feet are slippers: as the shop is just across the road I went out in them! I'm nuts about this cropped jumper which is very masculine in fit and fabric, but covered in adorable little knitted bows! I didn't have one of these when I was locked in my room writing in my diary and listening to Nirvana tapes!

I've given the pictures an orange sepia type finish because my camera back in the day didnt have a flash, so this is what most of my photos of the 90s look like- Minus the thick layer of dust, blur because I couldnt hold my hand straight, and more often than not, a thumb in the corner of the image: where would I be without the digital camera?!

The Topshop outlet revisited

I haven't been to the Topshop outlet for an age (not since just after Christmas) and I have to say that on that last visit the shop was very understocked, there was absolutely nothing special to write about, and I came out empty-handed.
Today my sister and I fancied a walk out but didn't want to head into town, so to the Topshop outlet we went: it is fairly equi-distant from our two homes. Today the store left me very impressed.
Everything is still buy one get one free, and they had a lot of maternity wear in today, as well as a a great selection of ordinary clothes in a wide range of sizes. They also had loads of the Christopher Kane stuff in (one of which is the fluro number lil sis is peaking from behind!) One of the things I always pick up in the outlet is tights: these gold and black spotty ones were £3 bogof, when originally they were £12 a pair! There is generally more in the 10-12 section, but that doesn't mean there isn't plenty in the other sizes too. For £40 I got three dresses and a jumper: i'll show these off another time!!

I get so many emails asking, and I always forget to mention this in the posts, but the Topshop outlet is at the back of the Broadwalk centre in Edgeware (Which is at the end of the Northern line) Apparently they get deliveries every day except Sundays, but the quantity of stock delivered varies dramatically. Directions are here.
Also in the Broadwalk centre is a shop called Choice, which is a mostly Next but other brands too outlet store; they stock Mens, Womens, Kids, and even homewares at up to 70% off and they have regular sale events where they knock even more money off the price. I got a Chanel-esque Next cardi from here for £7.99 once, I often look in here for gifts for my mum, and before Christmas I picked up a gorgeous Kathryn Hamnett watch for my dad for just £14.99.

I do want to point out though, that the Broadwalk centre is a very small shopping centre with less than 30 shops in it, and aside from the two shops mentioned above the only other store I visit is poundland for the cleaning products! This is a place to come if you're passing or if you want to see the Topshop outlet, but I wouldn't recommend anyone treks across town expecting a day out! Brent Cross is only a 20 minute bus ride away though, so you could always incorporate it into a visit there? If you bag a bargain like I often do, it's worth the trip!

Shoes: It's all gone a little bit tribal!

Firstly, happy new year! Sorry for starting the year in such a slack way post-wise (definitely not the way I plan to continue!) but we moved house on Thursday and my weekend has been spent unpacking boxes and persuading BT to connect my broadband - this hasn't happened yet. Grrr!!

Yesterday we took my younger sister out for a mini engagement lunch (she was proposed to on new years eve) and our lunch finished with a walk into Edgeware (to walk off the food!) where I inevitably ended up in the Topshop outlet. I really can't write enough good things about that shop! My star purchase was a pair of leather and suede zebra print tribal shoes: £15 and for the "one free" I got a black tuxedo jacket: that's just £7.50 an item! I can't get enough of these shoes:

The rrp on these was £75. On the jacket: £60. They are very much shoes of last Spring/Summers tribal trend, but it was love at first sight. I was also able to justify them as the move meant I had a massive wardrobe clearout and discovered I have no summer heels. And I decided that the "tribal" trend is just a slightly fancier version of the safari one, which, like nautical, is a trend that comes back in fashion every Spring/Summer anyway. With a wardrobe staple little black dress and some chunky wooden jewellery these will be perfect. Even if \i do say so myself!

PS-If you visit or plan on visiting the Topshop outlet then here is a heads up on a new policy change they have recently enforced. If you are buying more than 2 things, they no longer match up the relevant prices. Previously if you were buying two things for £20 and two things for £5 you would pay £25. However now you would pay £40, as the two £5 things would be free with the two£20 things, which you would have to pay for. I get around this buy either having someone else pay for the 2 cheaper items or by paying in separate transactions, a couple of minutes apart.

Something for nothing: Outlet shopping in the UK

I don't know if it's the recession, or if you're all just as bargain crazy as I am, but since my last post on the accessorize outlet, combined with my continual chitter chatter about the topshop outlet, I have been barraged with emails about outlet shopping.

I have replied to you all (I always reply to all my mail!) but for those of you who didnt message me but are still interested in saving some money on your shopping, here is my definitive list of the outlet stores all over the UK that I have visited and enjoyed:

Topshop outlet - This is located in the Broadwalk centre in Edgeware, London. Everything in the store is sale priced, and everything is buy one get one free, including the jewellery, shoes (although they dont often have shoes in stock) and underwear.

Accessorize - This is located in the Trocaderoc centre in Leicester square, London. It is quite a small store but has a wide variety of stock with discounts from 50-70%

New Look - The only New Look outlet in the country that I know of it in Princess Quay in Hull. Everything in the store is in the sale with discounts from 20 to 80%.

Lipsy - With dresses from £5 I am told that if you like Lipsy (i'm not a massive fan, they dont cut for my bust) then the outlet store on Fonthill road, London is a must-visit. The sign at the front of the store is old, but the stock certainly isn't!

Next/Karen Millen/French Connection - If you want a day out full of outlet shopping, try Gunwarth Quay in Portsmouth. I have been there 3 times and always come back with a bargain! It is a very big American style complex literally full of amazing outlet stores. Alternatively if you live a bit further north, the closest outlet mall to my hometime is called Springfields in Spalding. It is small but perfectly formed, and the underwear section of the Marks and Spencers outlet is always worth checking out.

I'm sure there are more to add, but these are ones I have personally visited and picked up some bargains from. Enjoy!

Fab frocks visits....the topshop outlet store

OK, OK, so i'm there all the time, but I thought I would take you all on a magical tour into the changing room of the Topshop outlet store. Pickings were especially good today, especially skirts and trousers (lots of jeans for around £10 BOGOF) and especially in sizes 10 and 12.

Here's what I tried:

4. Silk topshop boutique ruffle neck top £15* (I bought this one!)

I don't know if i've mentioned it before, but I collect brooches. Old costume jewellery from the 60s-80s mostly, which i pick up from antique shops or car boot sales so i'm sure you can understand why I couldn't resist these: All the freedom jewellery in the magical land is £2 buy one get one free. Can you imagine!? That's £1 per item: how could anyone resist? My favourite is the shiny plastic heart and key brooch. It reminds me of something I once saw in the Betsey Johnson store in Florida.

I really like going to the topshop outlet store; I suppose its because I love getting a bargain! It also never ceases to amaze me; you can pop in there and pick up a dress you considered paying the full £60 price tag for, for just £10. There are also loads of tshirt tops and other casual wears for just £5; bring in the bogof factor, and that works out at just £2.50 an item.

The fun is that you dont always know what your going to get; one week you can go in and they have loads of shoes, the next week they've had a jean delivery. Its definitely not the place to go if your looking for something specific, but if your a browser shopper like me: Give it a go!
