AW14: Time for Topshop

Hi guys,
Given the huge success of the Topshop Unique LFW show over the weekend, now seems like the perfect time to explore the Topshop AW14 collection. The campaign images have been out for a little while now and, as usual, Cara Delevingne looks as stunningly beautiful as ever. She typifies who the Topshop girl is for me: low key, effortlessly beautiful and certainly never about to try too hard when it comes to how she looks. Have you ever noticed that those young gorgeous girls (or 'Topshop girls'), much like off duty models, never feel the need to do too much to themselves? Their make up is minimal (just lots of smudgy black liner) their hair is undone, and that's exactly the feel this campaign gives, albeit in a more glamorous and grown up way. It's weird that making so little effort can be quite so aspirational.
 photo topshop1_zpscb8802ef.png
 photo topshop2_zps3ad93c69.png
 photo topshop3_zpsb24869ae.png
Taking inspiration from a mixture of 90s grunge and rock and roll trends, both of which show no signs of going out of fashion, like all of Topshop's collections every piece here is infinitely wearable. I love this aesthetic. Skinny jeans, leather trews and jackets, sensible flat shoes and even some lovely faux fur coats - all you need to throw in is a 60s retro-style mini dress and you have my dream style (and half my wardrobe) right there!

These campaign images have been released for over a month now, but it took the weather turning cold for me to look at them with fresh eyes and decide that what I (at first) thought was a very plain and mainstream campaign is, in fact, one of the most wearable and inspired high street campaigns of the season.....so far!

Everytime I go into Topshop I tell myself I'm getting a little too old to be shopping there. But I just can't help myself: I love the look, I love the effortless style, and I love aspiring to be a 'Topshop girl'. Even if I am just a chubby old mum with paint and playdough on her jeans...

What to Wear For Your Dream Job Interview

Hi guys,
One of the main perks of working for myself is that I never really have to think about job interviews. My office is in the room next door to my bedroom and if I want to work in my PJs then there's no-one to tell me not to (very occasionally I do too!) However when I'm meeting new clients or attending client meetings I have to shed my house clothes and smarten up. So when someone emailed asking what they should wear to a job interview, I thought it was the perfect time to do a little fantasy 'work clothes' shopping and put together the perfect outfit for a dream job interview:
 photo interviewoutfit1_zpse91706ce.png
You can't go wrong with a crisp white shirt! Every woman should have one in their wardrobe armoury: you'll be amazed by how often you'll wear it. River Island have just launched a new tailoring collection, and I just couldn't resist these pin striped softly pleated cigarette trousers. If you need a really formal outfit then River Island also made a matching jacket to go with these, but I went for a block colour fitted black blazer instead. I always shy away from colour, particularly in a job interview situation, so I went for accessories in similarly dark tones, but with a patent sheen to add a little style.
 photo interviewoutfit2_zps1fb1bd0b.png
Work in a more creative environment or looking for something a little more casual? Inject a little colour and style with slightly more unusual patterns and textures. One of the most important things about dressing for a job interview is to be comfortable, so if you are wearing jeans then why not opt for a low heeled ankle boot rather than a heeled court shoe? You don't want to be worrying about tripping up on your way out of the interview! And as for accessories? Whether you're going hyper formal or super casual, a simple handbag (big enough to fit in any A4 documents) and a chunky watch is all you need: there's no need to distract with layers of oversized bling.I am totally in love with this second outfit and buying those trousers as I type!!!

Companies such as City Calling offer fantastic interview tips and advice for job seekers, helping you know what to say and do when you're in the interrogation suite (I mean interview room!) but as well as prepping your interview technique and making sure you know every detail of your CV, you should also ensure you're happy and comfortable with what you're wearing. Because looking good is half the battle....

Collaboration: Ashish x Topshop (Again!)

Hi guys,
It is a little known fact that the first ever LFW show I ever went to was an Ashish show, meaning that I will always have a soft spot for the brand. And because their Topshop collaborations make the brands price point so accessible to me, it is also one of my favourite recurring Topshop collabs! I love the wearable sports-luxe finishes and the tongue in cheek slogans.
 photo asish1_zps135ad42c.png
photo ashish2_zps1df973ae.pngBeach, please! sweater, £50. My name is... tee, £40. Dirty beach towel, £45.
Son of a beach towel, £45. Not now eye mask, £30. Black contrast sunglasses, £35.
Please follow me tee, £40.

The collection is very much summer driven (with 'beach' themed word play the order of they day) and I know that those beach towels will be adorning sunbeds across Europe this summer. I also love the same monochrome and grey marl colour palette, which is a refreshing change for a summer collection and a break from the saturated colours we are seeing everywhere else at the moment.

The new Ashish x Topshop Collaboration launched instore and online yesterday and you can shop it now. That Beach, Please! sweater has got my name all over it!

All the Celebs at Topshop Unique

Hi guys,
London Fashion Week in in full swing.  Meanwhile, I am safely ensconced in my living room watching occasional shows live streaming but mostly helping with the renovations on our house (my dad and hubby stripped our staircase this weekend - I can't wait to get it painted!)

I feel like LFW has moved on a lot, from a bloggers point of view, since I first started attending shows six years ago. Live streaming has exploded and the public's interest in seeing the shows as they happen has been recognised. I genuinely think I can get the same perspective on the shows by watching them at home: Well, what's what I'm telling myself whilst Wilbur is small and needs me here, at least!
 photo topshopunique1_zps7a5f2134.png
Meanwhile what I got really excited about was seeing all the celebs wearing Topshop at the Topshop Unique show. I love Topshop, and the Topshop Unique show is one of my faves: mostly because I can actually afford to buy all of the pieces I fall in love with! So seeing celebs wearing Topshop (including some of the pieces I actually have in my wardrobe) is pretty inspirational and a great way to get new styling ideas:
 photo topshopunique3_zps3beed61c.png
 photo topshopunique4_zpscc1d5c87.png
 photo topshopunique2_zpsffde2eba.png
For any dedicated celeb spotters, here is a full list of the celebs that attended the show: Kate Moss, Lottie Moss, Kendall Jenner, Ashley Madekwe, MIA, Daisy Lowe, Poppy Delevingne, FOXES, Leigh Lezark, Sophie McShera, Maisie Williams, Harley Viera-Newton, Chelsea Leyland, Jessica Gomes, Atlanta de Cadenet, Sibel Kekilli, MØ, Tallulah Harlech, Tao Okomoto, Chloe Norgaard, Portia Freeman and Mary Charteris

I am not loving Kate Moss's sexy-commando jumpsuit (although like everything, she manages to pull it off) but I do love the way Maisie Williams has styled that voluminous powder pink skirt: something I fell in love with and bought immediately, but realistically have no ideas how to wear! (You can buy that skirt for yourself right here!) One of the best things about Topshop, for me, is that it covers so many wearable and covetable trends at a price everyone can afford. From the multi-millionaire Oligarch to the skinny super model to the trendy shop girl to the (ahem) slightly podgy mum!

What has your favourite London Fashion Week show been so far? And are you watching any of the shows life stream at home?

Cuckoo for Kimono Jackets

Hi guys,
I've been spending a lot of time lately planning, researching and updating my spring/summer wardrobe. I didn't buy any new clothes last summer, and the summer before I was pregnant, so my summer wardrobe  is in dire need of an update. We are also going on holiday in the first week of May, making buying outfits perfect for sunnier climes even more important.

I've always loved kimonos, but it looks like this year the kimono has had an update: enter the kimono jacket! I love kimonos because they're so versatile: you can dress them up or down. Their naturally slouchy fit also makes them incredibly flattering and they're a great cover up on cool summer evenings or when you want to protect your shoulders from the summer sun. Have I sold them to you yet?! If not, check out these gorgeous ones from Topshop:
 photo kimonos_zpsc64756e0.png
Luxe palm kimono jacket, £68
Black jacquard kimono jacket, £60
Lace detail kimono, £45
Floral kimono jacket, £60

I already have that lace detail kimono (I bought it last October) and I'm planning on adding that floral one to my wardrobe asap. It will look awesome with stripey breton tees and denim in the early spring and slip vests and boyfriend shorts in the summer. I know it's not for everyone, but I even love the way kimono jackets look when they're worn open over loose fitting shift dresses: volume is one of my favourite summer looks!

What do you think about kimono jackets - will one be making its way into your new season wardrobe? And have you started shopping for your spring/summer wardrobe yet, or am I talking about this a little too early?

Meadham Kirchhoff for Topshop hits the sale!

Hi guys,
If you lusted after the Meadham Kirchhoff for Topshop collaboration when it launched back in November, but just couldn't afford the prices then you're in luck! Bargain hunters get excited, because there are pieces from the collection in the Topshop sale.

The bold '80s-style collection was really well received by the great and the good of the fashion world, so I was surprised to see any pieces left in the sale. Having said that, with my wardrobe full of black, I'm living proof that just because you like something in theory doesn't mean you'd wear it yourself!
 photo mktopshop1_zpsc43a0e6d.png
 photo MKtopshop2_zps87de11ec.png
Red PVC Frill shorts, reduced from £100 to £60.
Tiger Print Jumper, reduced from £90 to £30.

I love those PVC shorts, which would look fantastic as the focal point of a much more pared down outfit: team with a simple fitted black tee, black tights and ankle boots. Or if you just can't help being the centre of attention then why not really commit to the Kirchhoff look and layer them with even more colour? It's a look that's far too bold for me, but I'd love to see you guys pulling it off!!

Year in Review: My Favourite Shoes of 2013!

Hi guys,
The New Year is the perfect opportunity to reflect on the previous twelve months- so expect a couple of these Year in Review posts!! In 2013 I made some sartorial decisions I was proud of. I also made some decidedly dodgy choices too. It has definitely been the first year I've worn jeans more than I've worn dresses, and flats more than heels. Shoes will always be my first love though (whether they have a heel or not) and here are some of my favourite shoe purchases of 2013:

1. Minna Parrika Bunny Shoes
 photo dadstyle2_zps34094f2c.jpg
I was delighted when Minna Parrika came to Sarenza, and immediately ordered a pair of the sensible but super-cute bunny shoes. On reflection, these are hands down my favourite shoes of 2013 and they get a hell of a lot of wear. Because they're black they go with almost everything, and I've even worn them with opaques and a little floral dress to a low-key wedding!

(The heeled version of these have gone into the sale, and currently have 20% off)

2. Topshop Studded Boots
 photo foxy4_zps4a652a1d.jpg
These were my first shoe and sale purchase of 2013, and a bargain at just £20 from the Topshop sale. Until I got my Sol Sana boots recently, they are the shoes I have worn most in 2013. I love the stud detailing, and they make the most simple outfits (like jeans and blouses-my staple) look a little more interesting.

3. Jonak Summer Sandals
 photo jonak2_zps72f6bb39.jpg
How tan do my feet look in these sandals?! It's enough to make me long for summer (as I stare at my currently very pasty white skin!) I love feeling the air between my toes, so sandal season is a great one for me: and these were my favourite pair from this summer, combining both leopard print and pony skin: two of my favourite things. They were also endlessly comfortable, meaning I wore them all day without so much as a twinge in my feet. Result!

4. Heart Cut Out Detailings
 photo park1_zps5fc288e2.jpg
Mike calls these suede Mellow Yellow shoes my hippy shoes! I suppose they do have a slightly 'crunchy' feel: they remind me of the school shoes I used to wear in the nineties! I'm a big fan of Mellow Yellow shoes, which cleverly combine sensible shoes with unusual detailing: and the shoes are always great quality too.

5. And Finally, A Sneaky Pair of Heels!
 photo wilburchristening2_zps83bb641a.jpg
Finally, I had to throw these in, because they are the only pair of heels that have had any wear in 2013! These Steve Madden heels surprisingly comfortable, and I have worn them to Wilbur's and both of my neice's Christenings. Because they are built up so much at the front it doesn't feel like you are teetering on heels: and I have such happy memories of wearing these shoes!

Could you pick your favourite shoes from 2013? And if you could, which shoes would you pick? I'd love to hear your choices!

Daily Wear: Stealing styling tips from my dad

Hi guys,
I know we're supposed to call it masculine tailoring or something, but whenever I see someone wearing a button up shirt with a knitted jumper over it I think of my dad: It's his trademark look! Today I'm stealing his style and wearing that exact same outfit for myself: photo dadstyle1_zpsf93b3ac4.jpg photo dadstyle3_zpsc261ad4e.jpg photo dadstyle4_zpsc0208f1b.jpg These are Leigh jeans from Topshop, teamed with a heart print blouse from Asda (aren't you surprised I didn't say Burberry? Ha!) and my jumper is from Asda too. The big leather bag was a bargain in the River Island sale back in January. And I'm disproportionately pleased that I managed to paint my nails last night; it's the first time I've been able to do them for ages!
photo dadstyle2_zps23818eb5.jpg Instead of wearing boots, which was my first instinct, I opted for my Minna Parikka bunny shoes, and put rolls in my jeans instead. When I first found out that Sarenza would be stocking Minna Parikka shoes I wrote a lengthy post here about why I loved the brand so much. All of those reasons still stand: it is by far one of my favourite shoe brands both because of the quality, comfort, and the quirkiness. Since I got them I've worn these shoes to death!

What are you wearing today? And are you wearing your coat yet? I'm going without mine today: I hope I don't regret it!

Daily Wear: Va-va-voluminous layers for a day at the zoo!

Hi guys,
Well I think the title probably explains where I've been today: we took a family trip to the zoo! In typical British fashion, excuse me for a minute whilst I talk about the weather! Although it's sunny the day started really coldly, which goes some way to explaining all my layers: I decided it was the best way to keep warm in the zoo during the early morning, without having to carry a jacket or bulky cardigan around with me all day. All that volume doesn't make for the sleekest or most streamlined look but nonetheless, here's how I wore it:
photo zoo3_zpsb3977257.jpg photo zoo2_zps41ed1da7.jpg photo zoo1_zps4995e9f6.jpg  Although they're only from George at Asda these are my new favourite jeans: I love the dark indigo colour and they have enough stretch to be insanely comfortable whilst still holding their shape. On top I am wearing a chiffon embroidered blouse with a peplum from Zara, a cotton kimono jacket from Primark and my new favourite scarf from Topshop: it has an incredible insect pattern all over it.  Finally, these Georgia Rose metallic sandals from Sarenza have been on my feet nearly constantly this summer. They're stupidly comfortable, and their bronzy metallic shade goes with absolutely everything.

This is the perfect jacket for this transitional weather, as when the temperature heated up a little I just removed the kimono and the scarf, and they both folded neatly into my bag: Simple!

What have you been doing with your Saturday? And what are you wearing today? Any tips for transitioning smoothly from your summer to your autumn wardrobe? I'd love to hear them!

Something for the Weekend: A list of lust!

Hi guys,
It's Friday morning, which means I've taken a little break from my freelancing work (despite having three deadlines looming!) to do a little virtual shopping instead. Rainy weekends like this one are perfect for hitting the shops, and there are new season collections landing in nearly every high street store right now. Here are the pieces I wish I had in my wardrobe right now:
 photo wishlist1_zps30f5faca.png
1. I love this draped Vivienne Westwood bag from Sarenza (£337.50) which would be the perfect statement piece for autumn/winter. I'm such a Vivienne Westwood addict, but I actually don't have a bag, so this is definitely the next big-purchase item on my wish list. The burgandy and brown tones would look great and match almost everything.

2. My insect obsession continues, so this oversized dragon fly T shirt from Topshop (£20) has got me feeling really excited. There's still time to enter my competition to win a £100 voucher to spend at Topshop (click here!) and then you could add this to your wardrobe too!

3. Everything I want at the minute is from autumn/winter collections: hang the summer, I'm an autumn lover at heart! At last count I had over 30 different coats, but as soon as they start landing in the shops they're all I want! This leather mix wool coat from Mint Velvet (£199) is next on my hit list.

4. I love statement necklaces, especially at the minute because I seem to spend my life wearing skinny jeans and basic tops which are really livened up with jewellery. This J Crew statement necklace from Net a Porter (£138) is such a great piece, and perfect if (like me) you're trying to avoid the dreaded green of high street jewellry!

5. I actually just ordered these Melvin and Hamilton boots from Sarenza (£119.50). I love the Missoni-style stripes that will match my Marc Jacobs change bag perfectly, and the leather is so shiny and supple-looking. These are really delicious and practical autumn boots!

Have you got your eye on anything new? And will you be hitting the shops this weekend? If so I'd love to know what you're looking for and what treasure you find!

Hi guys,
Good news! In honour of the beautiful and sunny weather, I've teamed up with Appliances Online (ao.com) to do a give away of a £100 gift voucher to spend on lovely summery things (or anything you want really!) at Topshop! Ironically before they got in touch I had been checking out Appliances Online this week - we need a new cooker, and then I got sidetracked by looking at SMEG fridges (my current object of lust!) photo sunnyday_zps209c4518.png
HOW TO ENTER: To enter all you have to do is leave me a comment in the comments section below telling me what you would spend your voucher on, then email me using the subject title COMPETITION (here's my email address!) so that I have your contact details to get in touch with you if you win! It's that simple!

The competition will close one week from today (that's Friday 9th August) at 12pm, and the winner will be chosen at random.
Good luck everyone!

Sales shopping: My Topshop jumper is Great!!

Hi guys,
It's sale season, and the Topshop sale has started! I never 'pop in' to check out a Topshop sale without buying something, and this season was no exception. With a better than 50% discount, I picked up this (probably Kenzo inspired) tiger motif jumper. And I think I look, in the famous words of Tony the Tiger, grreat: photo tigerjumper1_zps1becf5be.jpg photo tigerjumper2_zps591313a8.jpg I know it's not technically the right time of year to be buying jumpers, but with the small amount of summer we've had so far I think it's probably a safer and more wearable investment than a floaty frock.  My jumper was reduced from £38 to £18, so it was a total bargain.

Want a tiger jumper of your own? Here's the clicky link!

Have you checked out the Topshop sale yet? And have you done any other sale shopping? If so I'd like to know where you've been shopping, and what stores you'd recommend I check out next!

Daily Wear: Like a preppy bumble bee!

Hi guys,
The title of this post is what my husband said when I asked him how I looked today! I'm pretty sure it wasn't intended as a complement. Nonetheless I'm quite happy with this simple but sunshiney outfit, which is just perfect for looking stylish, but not like I've made too much effort when I pop to the shops this afternoon:
photo bumblebee1_zpsa5e958ca.jpg photo bumblebee2_zps8269fe1b.jpg photo bumblebee3_zps1eb65625.jpg The jumper is from Gap (Just £13.99 in the sale: total bargain!), the jeans are Topshop, and the blouse is H&M. The dainty flower necklace is from Cath Kidston. The heels are Steve Madden via Sarenza and the bag is via Hotter.

I usually shy away from bright colours because I'm not sure how to wear them and, truth be told, I don't really like drawing attention to myself which you're bound to if you wear a jumper like this. But this vibrant yellow looks great with my trademark black and new love of denim. And wearing heels helps too: it forces you to carry yourself tall and adds outfit confidence!

How to you wear bright colours? What's your comfort zone, and how do you force yourself to step outside of it sometimes? I'd love to hear your tips!

Daily Wear: Just a walk in the park!

Hi guys,
Isn't it amazing how much the weather can change your mood? After a miserable week stuck in the house with Wilbur last week (mostly wearing jeans and baggy tees) I woke up this morning to find the sun shining and the birds singing, and my immediately reaction was Hurrah! It's the perfect day to throw on a dress and go for a walk around the park!

So that's exactly what we're going to do today, complete with rides on the swings and sandwiches under a shady tree. And here's what I'm wearing to do it: photo park3_zps1bc2814d.jpg photo park2_zpsc93a5874.jpg photo park1_zpsdd650ae2.jpg
The dress is years old (like, I got it when I was at university old!) and is from Topshop. The vintage bag is just as old (I was 19 when I got this bag and I'm 29 now. That's some serious wardrobe longevity!). The necklace is the Black Lily one I showed off last week. And the shoes are from Mellow Yellow via Sarenza. I actually ordered these months ago in anticipation of Spring, but today is the first time I've worn them. I'm seriously excited to take them for a spin, as they're so cute, with their little heart cut out details!

Oh by the way - you may have noticed the new background to my last couple of outfit posts: our new garden! We spent much of this weekend mowing the lawn and weeding the patio: my next job is to paint the fences. It's so much nicer to take photos here without passers by on the street gawking. I feel much happier and comfortable posing too: cue lots more outfit posts to come this summer!

What did you get up to this weekend? Did you do anything nice, to make the most of the sunshine? And do you find the change of weather affects your mood too?

Daily wear: London Fashion Week AW13

Hi guys,
Getting ready for day one of London Fashion Week was something of a harried affair for me - not only did I have to get up and leave Norwich at the crack of dawn, I also had to dress, feed, and settle the baby at the same time. Nightmare! However I did manage to throw some semblance of an outfit together, and I actually think I looked alright. Even if we did take the photos at the back on an NCP car park, because we were running so late!
photo lfwoutfit1_zpsfcb657c8.jpg photo lfwoutfit4_zpsd94a92d8.jpg photo lfwoutfit3_zpsde279e96.jpg photo lfwoutfit2_zpsedde9ed2.jpg Coat, Stella McCartney. Trousers and boots, Topshop. Blouse, H&M. Necklace, All Saints. Sunglasses, Rock and Replublic via TK Maxx. Bag, BCBGMaxAzria via TKMaxx.

The patterned trousers were a big move for me, as I'm so self conscious of my thunder-thighs, I never wear anything other than black tights/leggings or jeans on my legs. But I loved these when I saw them in the Topshop sale, and at £10, how could I resist?!

I was planning on wearing my studded leather jacket (which looked great with this outfit, even if I do say so myself!) but when I got to London it was so cold that I threw on my Stella McCartney mac, which was luckily on the back seat of the car. Not as on-trend as I would have liked, perhaps, but at least it's a style classic and I was definitely glad to have it when the wind started biting whilst I was queuing for the shows! And this was another bargain - I got this last year from the Stella McCartney sample sale for £90!

Did you stream or see any shows at London Fashion Week yesterday? Or are you avoiding the LFW circus altogether this weekend? And if so, what are you doing instead? I'd love to hear all about it!

Topshop Sale: Jewellery final clearance

Hi guys,
I know I said I wasn't going to do any more sale posts, but this one is just too good a bargain not to write a little mention of! The Topshop final clearance sale started today: they have added new lines to the sale, and reduced many of the items originally in the sale too. But when I popped into my local store today the thing that got me really excited was the jewellery: almost all of the sale jewellery has been reduced to £1.50.
 photo freedom1_zpse40fdc06.jpg
I spent the grand total of £6 and got four pieces of jewellery that would have cost £45 full price. In terms of percentage discount, that's got to be my best sale bargain of the season so far! I'm still not buying costume jewellery rings (because of the dreaded green finger) which is a shame, because there were loads of tempting ones. But I did get two great bracelets, a leather strap necklace, and then impulse-bought a studded headband too! photo freedom2_zpsc00ceb39.jpg
The Topshop sale is also available online if you can't get to a store, but of course the delivery charge makes this super-cheap jewellery more expensive per piece. The other huge bargain worth popping into your local store for were thick (120 denier and 80 denier) tights in a variety of colours for £1-£2 (depending on the colour and thickness). I only wear black tights, but if you are a fan of the brighter ones than they were definitely worth picking up!

Are you still checking out the sales? Or are you focusing on new season shopping now?

Daily Wear: Sale shopping at Westfield London

Hi guys,
On Thursday I went for my final sales shopping trip to Westfield London: and there were still plenty of bargains to be had! It was also my first trip into London with Wilbur, and I would say it was a very successful trip all round! I love Westfield, so it was great to be shopping there again: regional shopping to good, but you really can't beat London shopping, can you?

I hit up all of the usual high street stores, and after toying with a Balmain-style jacket in Zara, I picked up this coat, reduced from £95 to £50 in Topshop:
 photo westfield3-5_zps26e3081b.jpg photo westfield4-2_zps6d9f2276.jpg photo westfield1-5_zpsb1d66c30.jpg photo westfield2-5_zps122b8f60.jpg
Coat and boots, Topshop. Jeans, Miss Selfridge. Hat, Urban Outfitters sample sale. Satchel, car boot sale.

I fell in love with the super-soft fur and the pleats at the back. There's a lot of fabric in this coat (it's soo heavy!) so it was a damn bargain! I also picked up a dress and some towels in Debenhams and two Little Marc Jacobs outfits for Wilbur. Westfield London hands down has the best selection of children's clothes shops I have ever seen: definitely worth the drive down just to dress the little man. And definitely worth it for my new coat: I love it!

Have you had any final sales bargains this weekend? If you're nearby and looking for something to do, I heartily recommend a trip to Westfield London. I'm hoping to get down again before the sales are over: I didn't get to check out nearly as many of the stores as I wanted!!

Love Tor x

Shoes: The perfect studded boots from Topshop

Hi guys,
Am I allowed to change my mind and have a new favourite purchase from the sales? Because if I am, it would definitely be these studded boots from Topshop:
photo foxy4_zpsca4bb649.jpg photo studboots2_zps2a661e77.jpg photo studboots1_zpsf187afeb.jpg And they were a serious bargain! The original price was £80. They were reduced to £50, and having tried them on I decided to snap them up straight away. Then, when I got to the till I discovered they'd been reduced again and I ended up paying just £30 for these babies: you wonder if that even covers the cost of the leather!

It just goes to show that even though the sales are dwindling down, it's definitely worth popping in to some of your favourite shops to see what they have left and further reduced: you could be pleasantly surprised.

Here are some of the best sale offers still on right now:
Debenhams Blue Cross Sale -Up to 70% off (also available online)
Boots 75% off all Christmas gift sets
Matalan 70% off (also available online)
Warehouse 70% off
Topshop: Further reductions (discounts vary)

These boots are going to look great teamed with my gold studded leather jacket. And the best thing is, they look just as good when they're worn with tights and skirts as they do with jeans and trousers. Could they be a contender for the crown of my new favourite boots? It's too early to tell. But lets just say my beloved H by Hudson boots should sleep with one eye open....

Daily Wear: Feeling Foxy!

Hi guys,
Well it's snowed. Which is nice/terrible, depending on whether you have to trek to work or not. But it's also leading to some interesting sartorial decisions from the general public: it snows and I'm always amazed by the things people think it's OK to wear!

Meanwhile, I have obviously been watching too much Jeremy Kyle, because writing that title immediately made me think of the foxy bingo ad at the start of the show. (Sign of a woman watching daytime TV on maternity leave, methinks?) I am, in fact, not referring to bingo but to my gorgeous new Topshop fox scarf: a Christmas present from hubby. Simply put, it's a scarf that looks like it has a cartoon fox-fur stole on it. And it's just perfect for wearing in this terrible weather:

I've teamed it with my new studded boots (which will be getting their own post shortly), cozy knitted mittens, and my rust coloured cocoon coat, which coincidentally matches my foxy scarf perfectly.

I love winter accessories: they're so much fun! When else can you wear faux fur on your head, mittens on strings like you did when you were a kid, or a hat scarf and glove set that all look like pandas?! It's like winter arrives and all bets are off: child-like colours and patterns become the norm. I think the snow brings out the kid in all of us, and I love it!

How are you keeping warm in this terrible weather? What are you wearing, and are you wrapping up in any unusual winter accessories?
