My new A/W Boots....Yes, already!

Hi guys,
August is such an awkward month. The weather is too warm and sunny to really want to put serious thought into your new season wardrobe (let's face it, who wants to think about coats when you're still wearing flip flops?) The problem is, it's far too late to be buying summer clothes too: and the chances of finding any in store, apart from in the dregs of the sale, are minimal anyway.

But me? Well, I like to plan ahead. And Autumn/Winter is my favourite season of all; I love it when it's cold, I love seeing my breath when I'm walking. I love frost, and snow, and wrapping up warm. Bonfire night, and Halloween and Christmas. You get the idea!

So August is the time I start planning my new Autumn/Winter wardrobe. And this year, I've started with my boots first. Here are my two new pairs:

H by Hudson Horrigan boots, Sarenza, £170
Georgia Rose Bilboq boots, Sarenza, £72.50

I love both pairs! The H by Hudson boots will look amazing with either my favourite tan or black leather handbags, and they're so comfortable and versatile. The neon and sand Georgia Rose boots make more of a statement, but when you don't want to make an effort with your outfit, statement boots are just what you need!

Luckily my winter boots from last year (One pair of zebra print ankle boots, and one pair of studded black cowboy-style boots) are still going to be very much on-trend this winter! And I have my tall Bearpaw sheepskin boots for those really snowy days. I would like a pair of knee high riding boots (my nod to this season's Heritage trend) which I have my eyes open for but other than that, I think the winter boot box of my new season checklist can be well and truly ticked!

M&S Lingerie: To keep you warm on long winter nights?

Hi guys,
Last week I was invited to breakfast at the Goring Hotel (where a certain Miss Middleton stayed the night before her wedding, if you care about these things!) to check out the Autumn/Winter collection from M&S lingerie: I'm having quite the love affair with M&S of late, aren't I?!

The collections were stunning: although lingerie often is when it's worn by beautiful models! It was mix of fun and colourful, with a nordic twist, and very vintage inspired:
Photobucket
I loved the very simple teal satin set, which is shown in the standard range style, but also comes in the M&S DD+ range. And the gown it was teamed with is gorgeous. I love the bold floral pattern and the rich aubergine colour. The DD+ range at M&S goes up to a G cup: not as large as the range at Debenhams or Bravissimo, but definitely big enough to fit the vast majority.

Cozy boots with lingerie isn't the sexiest look (and I can't see many people going for it!) but I love these cozy bootie slippers! They'd make great Christmas stocking fillers, and would be perfect teamed with snuggly loungewear for lazy weekends at home (or maybe it'd just me that doesn't like to get dressed on Sundays!)
Photobucket
I couldn't believe that the layered leopard print and pink tops were thermals! I am often spotted wearing plain black or white thermal tops under frocks in the winter, but would love to experiment with vibrant pattterned ones, so I'll definitely be picking this leopard print one up!

And can you believe the underwear in the final picture is shapewear? As a shapewear devotee, I can promise you I have nothing as pretty as that in my collection! The sheer panels make it look really surprisingly sexy and the super high waistline means you can be sure everything is held in place. Definitely one for the Christmas parties!

What do you think of the range? Has anything taken your fancy?

Primark A/W 11 boots and shoes

Hi guys,
I don't often venture into Primark any more (not because I don't still love Primark, just because i'm trying to do some saving, and have put my shopping addiction on hold.) But this week lil sis and I took a jaunt to the Oxford Circus branch for a sneak peak at their new A/W wares.

I actually came out empty-handed, which is very unlike me when it comes to Primark! However, as usual, I did find myself lingering a little too long over their shoe department:

Shearling was a very popular Primark boot trend (And the first set were only £15, which is amazingly purse friendly, if you're on a budget) but it was the boxy colour popping wedge ankle boots that set my heart racing.

I know they're entirely impractical, but I loved the turquoise ones! I have no idea what i'd wear with them but when did that stop me loving shoes?! The heart wants what it wants. Mine also wants those orange brogues. And I can see heel lovers falling head over heels for the burgandy brogues with the stacked heels. Personally, I prefer my brogues flat, so that I can walk around the shops in them all day!

Have you had any Primark bargains lately? If so, what did you get? I must admit I wasn't very impressed with the Oxford Street store this week. I went in planning to buy myself an Autumn dress or two, and couldn't find anything I liked enough to part with my cash for!

Little Mistress A/W Preview!

Hi guys,
Until I was invited to the Little Mistress bloggers preview, it was a brand i'd never heard of, but last night I was submerged in their new A/W collection, and there was alot to like. They seem to specialise in partywear and are beloved of Katie Price; but don't let that put you off, because some of their dresses are really pretty, really wearable, and just perfect for a big night out!
Photobucket

Partywear was the order of the day, with sequins and heavy embellishment taking centre stage. The key colours were black, royal blue, and party gold. There were two completely sequinned dresses that would be perfect come party season, and the thickness of the sequins made them look expensive, despite the very modest price points.

This was by far my favourite dress. I loved the beautiful gold embellishment and the crazy vibrant pink colour, but the cut is pretty demure and perfect for showing off curves. Just add heels and go:
Photobucket
I would team this with a blazer, gold heels and an oversized clutch and party all night!

Little Mistress are also releasing a brand new range of jewellery, some of which I fell immediately in love with:
Photobucket
Note the chunky and oversized green and gold gemstone necklace and bracelet to the left of the pic, and be still my beating heart! That is exactly my kind of jewellery. There were also some oversized rings at undersized price points (just £5!) that I made a beeline for.

When it comes to Christmas time, Little Mistress will definitely be on my 'must check out' list!

Boohoo.com A/W press day

Hi guys,
Yesterday I popped over to the boohoo.com press day, where I bumped into Sherin from Hi Fashion, and lusted over a room full of lovely Autumn/Winter clothing. My new season fetish is being fulfilled and I've already planned several imaginary outfits i'm going to wear as soon as the weather gets warm enough. Of course, the nice thing about imaginary shopping in a place like Boohoo is that all the clothes and accessories are so cheap, I can actually afford to buy some!

Firstly there was the jewellery . Nothing earth shattering, but some pretty pieces nonetheless: I loved the peach rose bracelet and the big silver deco-style necklace.
Photobucket
Then came the handbags. I was surprised at how good the handbags looked, given how cheap they were, with boxy, lady-like bags and vibrant colour blocking ones at the fore. My favourite was the big tan and black bag in the second picture, which looked like real leather, and would go with just about every item in my A/W wardrobe:

Finally, I fell completely and utterly, head over heels-edly in love with the fur coats. I'm such a fur addict that I just can't resist! These pieces are from boohoo's more premium range meaning they're slightly more expensive, but they're still very purse-friendly, coming in at around £80:

As soon as I got back to my desk I whacked in the disc full of PR shots and indulged in some major fashion lust: always a sign of a good collection! And with the dresses and jackets (my two staple items) coming in at around £20 each, it's definitely worth a look: that's cheaper than ASOS! I've never shopped at boohoo before, it definitely won't be long until I can't say that anymore...

Primark A/W Look Book: Yum!

Hi guys,
Do you know that apart from buying bits for the house (using wedding gift vouchers and other lovely presents) I haven't been in a single shop since I got back from Eygpt. And it's been almost a fortnight: making it almost 5 weeks since I even went window shopping. This has to be some kind of a new world record for me!

However these pictures of the Primark A/W look book may just be enough to have me heading to Oxford Street to make sure it's not too good to be true. That's always my feeling when I see the Primark looks: I love the clothes, I love the styling, I get excited. Then I try and temper my excitement because I know they just won't look as lovely in real life. I hope i'm not right this time, because there are some pieces I definitely want to inject some new season style into my existing lovely winter wardrobe:
Photobucket
Ovoid coat £35 in store August. Patent vintage bag £7 in store July. Pink tights £2 in store August. White patent heels £12 in store now.
Photobucket
Cable button cardigan £12 in store August. Cable knit midi £12 in store September . Socks £2 in store October. Lace-up patent boots £18 in store September.
Photobucket
Limited Edition peterpan dress £23 in store September. Padlock mini crossbody £5 in store July . Socks £2 in store October. Loafers £16 in store August
Photobucket
Dalmation coat £45 in store September. Jeggings £6 in store July. Loafers £16 in store August
Photobucket
Check jacket £35 in store August. Cable knit jumper £14 in store September. Tailored dusty pink trousers £14 in store September. Socks £2 in store October. Loafers £16 in store August

What do you think? Anything grabbed your attention? I'm a faux fur addict, so i'm very interested to see what the dalmation coat looks like in the flesh!

Matalan A/W press day

Hi guys,
After a hectic weekend I have been stuck down with the dreaded cold and 'flu bug which is circulating: woe is me, etc! Luckily though, last week was event heavy, so I have plenty of new news and drool-worthy pictures to share with you guys. One of the events I went to was the Matalan A/W press day. If you're a Matalan shopper (and I am definitely a convert) then here's what you'll be wearing next winter. I actually wish I could have a lot of this in my wardrobe now:

Matalan ladies:

Matalan has some great prints coming in! I love the black and white deer print dress and the bold seventies print on the mustard and navy dress: I would wear both right now, they'd make great spring dresses, as well as Autumn ones. Of the true winter pieces the knits were particularly gorgeous: bold tribal prints, and a couple of great Reindeer/animal jumpers that would be perfect for Christmas. My key piece was an amazing leopard print coat: I will definitely be buying that next winter, and wearing it with everything.

Matalan home:

I don't often write about homewares, but since Mike and I got engaged i've found myself doing up our flat more and more. I don't know if there's such a thing as pre-marital nesting, but if it exists, i've got it! I had to share the cupcake cake stand, and the dinky little cupcake spoons: our kitchen has an American diner/cupcake theme, so I was giddy with delight to see that almost everything in the Matalan collection would fit in with my kitchen perfectly. I also really liked all of the Union Jack/Britannia themed cushions: a rare welcome outcome from all of the Royal Wedding hoohah!

Tights: The transitional season's saviour!

Morning guys,

My mind has been elsewhere and the blog has been someone neglected this week - my bad! As winter approaches and it's time to start thinking about our new season clobber (this must be true, all the magazines say so!) I realise that harder than getting your winter wardrobe out is handling the transition - going from summer to winter without looking like you're wearing half of your summer wardrobe and half of your winter one (which is what most of us do!) is a nightmare! My answer to this? Bring out the tights!

With brightly coloured tights you can still get away with wearing your favourite vibrant summer frocks (you just need to add a jacket!) Black tights get me through my working week, and patterned tights add detail to even the plainest outfit. They're a coloured saviour!
On mytights.com I fell in love with these Bebaroque designs: at £25 for the tassled pair and £37 for the sequinned ones they aren't cheap (despite the fact that these are the 50% off prices!) but they really would be the focal point of whatever outfit you teamed them with; they're just too gorgeous to resist! I've just ordered the rosette ones, so i'll let you know how I get on with them when they arrive!

And if you have slightly better pins than me, I still love the Henry Holland for Pretty Polly patterned tights: I just don't have the legs to pull of all the sheer panels, sadly. The price points aren't bad on these though, and you'll pick a pair up for less than a tenner; some of the newer designs are slightly more at £14.99. If you love these but (like me) don't want to get your pins out then something I tried last winter, with the pink house ones, that worked was putting a pair of white opaque tights underneath them. It kept me extra toasty too!!

If you're looking to get your tights at a more reasonable price then:
-Dorothy Perkins has a deal on theirs: £8 for 2 pairs of their 80/50 denier tights.
- You can get 30 different styles of tights on asos (Including a gorgeous 80 denier mustard pair) for a fiver or less
- Primark have just had their new season hosiery arrive (literally this week!) with prices starting from £1.

Love, Tor xxx

PS - Lovely little sis has her big op tomorrow, and we are taking her to the hospital this afternoon, so my posting might be sporadic for a couple of days - few things take priority over fashion, but this is definitely one of them, and all my free time will either be spent in the hospital with Amie, or with the rest of my family.
