Happy Birthday to....Me!

Hi guys,
Just a quick and very self indulgent post because today I turned the grand age of 30. I was expecting to feel old. Or at least older. But 30 doesn't feel any different at all. I wonder if that's a good sign that my life is on the right track and I'm exactly where I wanted to be before my latest milestone birthday?

Birthdays definitely make you reflect on your life, particularly significant ones like 30, and I'm glad to say that I don't find mine lacking at all. I have a wonderful life: a crazy husband, the most amazing son, an incredible family, a house that I love (despite parts of it falling solidly into 'fixer upper' territory) fabulous friends and a job that (whilst it won't ever make me a millionaire) I actually love doing. Today, of all days, I feel truly blessed.

Bring it on 30, I'm ready for you! Because I think this year is going to be a good one!

Happy Birthday Zalando!

Hi guys,
I'm a big fan of Zalando: the shopping site, and I've worked with them several times since they launched two years ago. I was a particular fan during my pregnancy, because cool maternity clothes are so hard to come by. And now that I'm a busy mum, it's my special occasion saviour. The nature of the site, pulling together all the best items from the best brands and stores, means that it's so much easier to find what you're looking for. Perfect speedy and easy shopping when you want something fast.

This week Zalando are celebrating their second birthday. And in honour of that, I am showcasing some of my favourite purchases from the site:

Mamalicious zebra patterned maternity top from Zalando
Full circle blouse from Zalando

Warehouse isn't a shop I normally go into when I'm shopping in the city, but I just can't get enough of this Warehouse dress. It looks great for casual wear with leggings and boots but can be dressed up with heels too: winner! And the Mamalicious and Full Circle blouses were regulars in my maternity armoury: I wore them both at least once a week!

If you want to celebrate Zalando's birthday too then create your own birthday image for the brand and tweet it using the hashtag #zalandoturns2 - there's a £300 voucher to win if you do! Find out more here.

Daily Wear: The birthday bow!

Hi guys,
I wanted to post these pics yesterday, but blooming blogger was playing up! Thursday was my birthday (i'm now 27 or, as my sister put it "the wrong side of 25") and, as it was my birthday, my inner five year old said I should definitely wear a big birthday bow in my hair:
PhotobucketPhotobucket
I'm completely in love with this bow, which is leather and from Topshop. A leather bow is the perfect mix of tough and girly! As for the rest of the outfit: the pumps are topshop too, the jacket is H&M (my new obsession and the perfect summer jacket!) and the dress was from TKMaxx about 5 years ago, and I haven't stopped wearing it since! Incidentally, this is also the dress I was wearing this time last year, when Mike and I celebrated my birthday and got engaged....my wardrobe must've been feeling sentimental!

I had a lovely birthday though, and have lots of lovely prezzies to share with you guys: a gorgeous Betsey Johnson watch from my parents, an OTT clutch bag from Mike, and shoes and homemade jewellery from my sisters: I was spoilt rotten!

In the meantime PLEASE ENTER my competition to win 2 pairs of faith shoes, which i've extended to 5pm today, because of all the blogger issues meaning you guys couldn't enter for the past couple of days!

Love, Tor x

Becky's Birthday - Come Prancing!

Dear blogosphere,

In two hours, I'll 25 years old. Hitting the quart! I'm not going to make your ears bleed with all that droney "Gah! I'm so old" nonsense. I'm young, dumb and full of 'Come Dancing' with all its associated frills.

Surrender to me the following birthday gifts:

Dior Fertility lady stilettos:

Keeping the feet sweet and the ovaries gooey.
Forgive me Imelda, I love them.

The River Island Nazi bag.
Fascistic *and* fierce!

My Judy Garland Life by Susie Boyt
It's no birthday without Judy and spiraling obsession.
It's no life without Judy and spiraling obsession.

ANNND...

A full pony.

I'm sitting by my letterbox in anticipation of your bounty.

Love,
Becky.

Happy Birthday......to me!

Hey hey,

Yesterday was a momentous day. I handed in my 5,000 words on Muriel Spark, and I reached the grand old age of 24- I am officially in my mid-twenties (and very aware that i'm faar too old to still be a student.) To celebrate this momentous occassion my sister came to stay for a few days, and joined a merry crew of party goers and karaoke stars!

My beautiful sister Amie-Dave. Her magic make-up is from Dior and I am infinitely jealous. Her dress was in the Topshop sale for just £5: bargain!

Obviously Miss Wigmore was there for the occassion, and not only did she look stunning, she also baked a cake: a hazelnut filled chocolate-nutella delight, which I am eating for breakfast as I type this very word. Yum! Becky wore the Christopher Kane for Topshop dress she pined over in this previous post but didn't think she could afford; it was reduced to £60 (£56 with student discount) and Becky grabbed at it the way I grab at chocolate cake: quickly and with much greed. Yum again. Teamed with black ballet pumps and Topshop bling (apparently there was a Topshop "thing" going on last night) little Miss Becky looked lovely:

I'm scared that Becky will kill me for not letting her photoshop this before I put it up but I think she looks awesome!

Bucking the Topshop trend, I opted for a Primark floral dress (£14) with a puffball type skirt: there are layers of tulle underneath which give the skirt all the volume. My earrings are topshop, my bracelet is from river island, and (because it was my birthday) I wore killer black wedges.I like to think I look like a curvier, slightly drunker version of a Luella model:
And as well as the drinking (see above) there was singing. Oh boy, was there singing!

We were singing Dolly Parton like we really meant it. Oh yes

With birthdays come fashiony gifts, and I received so many pretty things I just can't wait to show you all. But I'm pretty sure my active high is ebbing out fairly quickly, and I just dont have the energy to change out of my pajamas. I'm going back to bed to sleep and nurse this hangover.....

You know your drunk when you're taking pictures of yourself in the ladies

Lots of love,

Tor xx
